Countless women in Uganda are the sole provider for their families. Not only do most women maintain a small patch of land that they grow sugar cane, cassava, bananas, beans and potatoes to feed their children ~ many also raise goats, chickens and pigs. Numerous women also take the time to make beautiful baskets, hand-woven floor mats and colorful paper bead necklaces. They sell these at the local villages or use them to barter for the items they need |
