Uganda Overview
Uganda sits across the equator in East Africa. Landlocked, it does share the shores of Lake Victoria with it's neighbors Kenya, and Tanzania. While known mostly for the reign of Edi Amin who was exiled in 1979, and the Entebbe Airport - site of a dramatic hostage rescue back in 1976, Uganda today is a rapidly developing country with a stable government and a sound and constantly improving economy and infrastructure. Known as the Pearl of Africa, so named by Winston Churchill during a visit in the 1920's, Uganda is a high plateau ranging in elevation from 3,000' to over 19,000 ' at the peak of Mt Rwenzori.
